Car Seat Fixing / Issue With Location Of Seat Belt Buckle - Isofix Rin

Hi Land Cruisers,

I am the owner of a LC 120 (LC5) :D

I have an Isofix car seat installed on the rear left seat. the belt buckle is located just next to the seat and can be fasten without any problem.

I now have a second car seat. ( already bought, as it is shown compatible for both rear side seats in the Land Cruiser)

On the rear right side (behind the driver), If I attach the car seat to the isofix rings, the belt buckle is located under the seat. ( the seat belt buckle is between the 2 isofix rings)

This means that once the seat is installed the seat belt can not be fasten.

Car seats for young children have their own harness integrated, but for older children, we must use the car's seat belt.

Is there any solution to this ? did anybody face this problem?

I've seen some belt extensions on internet ( with E4 certification) which could make the buckle reachable, but the fixing point would still be under the seat. Not sure that this would make the whole system working safely.

Hope someone will have a solution for this !

Thanks for your help !

K.

it seems to me that the isofix rings on the right hand side are positioned towards the centre of that half of the rear seat (presumably it is the wider half of the 60/40 folding seat). Makes one wonder whether the seat belt is supposed to fasten into the buckle of the middle seatbelt (the buckle that is accessible). Might be worthwhile checking your owner's manual of popping into your local Toyota dealer to confirm or deny.

Yes, I will ask Toyota... Hopefully they will have faced the same issue with some other families :-)

You can't fasten a side belt on the central buckle, they have a different profile.

Thanks

Yes did think that the car may be one where the centre seat belt may have a different profile.

Wonder if the reason that the right hand isofix fittings are set more towards the centre of the vehicle is that, in the UK, the right hand side is more commonly hit in a side impact than the left hand side ....

  • 7 years later...

I face the same issue with the placement of the second child seat, concerning the isofix rings and the seatbelt bukcle.

I'm thinking a solution with the RiveMove seat adapter (which mooves the isofix rings for about 7cm) and a belt extender.

Was there any other good solution to that issue?
