Vvtl-I Lift Problem! Can't Find A Salution

Hello,

I'm the new here!

I've been driving my Toyota with no problems and after the car accident I managed to change my chain. After that my VVTL-i system started not to work.

The strange thing is that the lift works for the first 5-7min when i start my car. After that time it just stops to work. And later if I turn off my car and start it again it will work again for the same amount of time.

I changed my oil, cleared the lift OCV.

Where is the problem?

Thank you,
Eimantas

need more information please

how do you know that the lift system stops working?

any DTCs set?

What kind of accident have you been in?

Why the chain needed to be replaced - make 200% sure that timing is OK and all marks align perfectly when the crank pulley is at #1 piston TDC 0.

The rev limiter sets after 5 minutes sets to 7k rpm and no magic from 6200..

I've been to diagnostics right now, I got the code P1349. I know it stands for VVTi malfunction.

I'll try to clear my VVTi OCV filter.

The ignition is good, because my motor is working like a clock.

yes clean the ocv and ocv filter

regarding the limiter setting to 7k that is probably because the ecu thinks that you're in neutral.. check the vehicle speed sensor.

Cleared VVTi OCV filter, it looks like I had like 10-15min of working lift, then it suddenly stopped working, but it stopped when I stopped near the red light.

The speed sensor should be fine. If it wouldn't work I will not be able to see my speed, right?

Thanks

IIRC your car has a cable driven speedo

the speed sensor must be a incorporated in the cable drive gear or a separate part - don't know really how it is on your car.

Are your lift bolts Ok.

Oil pressure plays a part in the lift function as well. Have heard of guys changing oils and finding oil pressure problems preventing lift working.

Does seem suspicious that after the chain change you started to get problems.

I heard that when i hit lift, i hear spit from my exhaust. Could it be misfire and problem with ignition timing?

Slightly loss in power, can't even normally race with 100kW diesel. So my last idea it's the timing problem.

Hello,

RECENT UPDATE.

I checked the chain timing and everyting is fine.

Checked spark plugs, they are good.

Also checked lift bolts, fine.

Still don't know the problem, any suggests, help?

SOLVED - It was a bad VVTL-i actuator. Added the old one original and it's working now :)
