Breathing Or Sucking Noise From Front Of Engine

HI All,

Couple of days a go I had the hood up and started the engine, so some reason I blipped the throttle. When I let go of the throttle wheel, I can hear this breathing or sucking noise from front of engine but I cannot pin point where its coming from.

It only does it when I let go of the throttle, not while I rev the engine, not when its idle.

Is that normal or do I have a vacuum leak?

Thanks,

I think that you can check for leaks into the intake manifold side by spraying start gas near the seals and hoses. If the engine revs as it burns the start gas there might be a leak. I've read this on other forums for other cars. Might be worth a try.

If its something like this it could be sound of air rushing through the air filter:

My fiat stilo has a smilar sound when i tap the accelerator pedal quickly.

I tried capturing the sound but my camera does not seem to pick it up, engine noise is louder.
