Blue Smoke On Startup (1.4D4D)

Hi,

Have a 2010 1.4 Diesel that throws out some blue smoke on startup. Only when starting from cold. I take care to let the glow plug lights distinguish first but still no success.

Have also taken it into the dealer twice and left overnight but unfortunately those days have been warm so drawn a blank.

Some people have told me this is fairly normal but keen to see if anyone has advice.

Thanks,

Neil.

Has the current recall for 1.4 D4d's been completed on your car?

blue smoke on startup usually means bad valve seals

and in the most cases those are the bad exhaust valves seals

Hello all,

Thanks for the replies. Checked for recalls and all ok. Since then, have taken he car back to the dealer. This time, they did see the blue smoke. Have advised that software / recalls all checked and ok. Injectors also checked and passed. Therefore, car returned and advised no cause for concern unless I see excess oil usage or if the issue also happens at warmer temperatures (which, to date, it doesn't).

Should I leave this?

Concern is that the warranty expires in just over a month, so keen to get any potential issues resolved.
