The Skylines are very nice, but the engines have a nasty knack of blowing up - I know of two sitting in a garage with knackered engines. Both were de-restricted. Unfortunately the Skyline engine in particular doesn't like being driven over 112mph. Since that's the limit over in Jap land, they're not bothered about speeds above that - if you recall, Toyota don't recommend you drive the Tubbies over 130mph for sustained periods. If the engine is strengthened, then I suspect these restrictions can be overcome.

yeh, as base engines their components prolly rnt as strong as toyotas, but with a little work they can be strengthened substantially.

one hting i've heard/read is that the gearbox's rnt up 2 much. they usually get knackered after engine tuning.

Aren't the gear boxes Getrag units? I've heard pretty bad things about these, esp. in the BMW's where they have a tendency to fail spectacularly....

I have to say Kiwi that r32 pic has got to be 100% THE most stunning R32 ive seen to date. Nice one.

It's pretty mint aye, Iv'e meet the fella who owns it a couple of times, his name is Emmo, he is a pretty prominant memener of the wellington branch of SDU. It is REALLY REALLY nice aye. He doesn't really wanna sell it as he is heading overseas for a while and if he doesn't get what he's asking he will gladly put it in storage :)
