Got a 94 Hilux Surf 3.0 LTR TD Auto, When it's in park it won't start it just goes clunk, to start I have to press button and put it through the gears then put it in neutral before it will start, anybody got an answer,

Hi,

We had exactly the same on our 96 Hilux. Until one day going through the gears didn't work at all! It turned out to be the starter motor, changed that, and it's been fine ever since. Hope that helps and good luck

Another common issue is a faulty neutral position switch, which stops the car from cranking until the lever is moved,wiggled
