Toyota Rav 4 1az Engine With Fault Code P1653

I own a Toyota Rav 4 2002 model auto trans with a 1AZ-FSE engine, chassis ACA21..... The check engine light was coming on intermittently but after I took into for reading of the codes it stayed continuously on and the gears now wont shift into OD. The fault code that came up was p1653 (SCV) Where is this valve located and would it be the one responsible for the non shifting of gears into OD.

Found the solution and in the spirit of not being selfish.. its a bad Vacuum Switch Switching Valve Solenoid Sensor. Part number: 25860-46010  

CAR:  Toyota Rav 4 2002 model auto trans with a 1AZ-FSE engine, chassis ACA21

Swapped it and it works like new. Good luck.

Hi Team,

If the problem was a bad Vacuum switching valve solenoid,why the system has registered a P1653 which is related with suction control valve?

If that is the case,it is a total confusion!

Because the code is a symptom and not the cause

P1653 is a generic obd code and has many meanings

The actual meaning for this code is EGR Vent solenoid

Be aware most obd codes are followed by 2 numbers eg, P1653/01 what are manufacturer specific
