Rostra Cruise Control

This has probably been covered a million times before.

Does anyone know if the Rostra cruise control system can be fitted to a 1.0 MT?

http://www.rostra.com/manuals/250-9621_Form5330.pdf

It specifically states it is for a 1.3 AT but i seem to remember somebody saying it might work on the 1.0 MT

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Would be interested to know as well although I have the 1.3 manual version.

Only issue I can see is where the cruise gets the clutch signal from. It needs to be disengaged as soon as the clutch is pressed as well as the brake pedal so not sure if the OBD socket has that signal? I'm guessing my car has a clutch switch as it stops the engine when the clutch is not pressed at lights and the instructions do mention a clutch signal but would be interesting to see if that signal is at the socket. If it's not I'm sure a bracket could be fabricated to hold a switch in the footwell and then connected to the system.

How much is the kit and where do you get it from?

Craig.

This is where you CAN get the kit from

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rostra-250-9621-Cruise-Control-Kit-2012-2013-Scion-IQ-Money-Back-Refund-/251240260413?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7f16233d

They state it can be fitted to auto and manual.

Unless there are any other options available or any other kits that anybody knows of ??

Been on the internet browsing and ze Germans are absolutely adamant that a OE cruise control stick will fit

Part number 84632-05010

Looks a bit like this

So anyway I tool my airbag off before to see if it would fit and guess what I found:

So there is the plug to plug the cruise control in and also the holes on the bracket to secure it to !

Very interested in this. How would you hook it up to the existing wiring? Is is at simple as plug and play?

I don't know.

I have a feeling that the wiring is in the squib unit but not connected at the other end all you will need is the wiring and control box.

If you can read German then fill yer boots !!

The Germans recommended me to contact this company

http://www.ncs-systems.com/car-electronics/cruise-control-and-delimiters/precision-cruise.html

I am buying the system over the next few days. But this system comes with a limiter and a memory that I don't think I need or want

Whilst reading this

http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17158&highlight=diy+cruise

I came up with the realisation that the control for the system is 2 wires.

I don't think that there is cruise installed on the Toyota IQ as I cannot locate the ECC wire on the ECU

What I will do though is buy this new kit and (crudely) wire up the OEM stalk to it

I am not sure this will work. It might.............. but only time will tell

i fitted the cruise control from http://www.ncs-systems.com/  in my IQ 2010 automatic yesterday.

Had to solder 1 wire for the power, the rest is plug and go.

Works like a charm. and got great support.

Be careful withe the Rostra kit, because a year after having put on on my IQ, suddenly the engine stop, and the alarm light switch on the dashboard. After 30 seconds engine accept to restart but the alarm was still light. The day after all was ok, no more alarm. I went to toyota, and with the computer they find that it was a problem with the accelerator wiring. After 2 months, same problem.

So I take out the rostra, and now all is ok. So be careful.

I switch off mine by deconnecting it because it cause to fail the car. It was working correctly for 2 years, and now problem with the connection of the accelerator. Very umplaisant to have the engine stop suddenly. And impossible to restart for 1 minute. So for for me no more  rostra .
