sshoesmith 0
Hi, I have a 2004 petrol Avensis with 110k on the clock - is there any consensus about if/when the timing chain should be replaced ? Thanks, Stephen
Konrad C 947
So long as the engine has had regular Oil and filter changes, then the chain should last the life of the engine. Only if it is noisy would a change be necessary.
avensisd4d786 250
I have not heard of a avensis with a bad chain yet , lets hope its a good thing, keep the chain lubricated with regular services and correct spec Oil as mentioned by Konrad.
jimtaxi 3
My 2.2 Avensis is now at 210000 miles Oil changed regularly so no issues, changing this chain would also have to include the chain wheels and tensioner mechanism to do a proper job. If no noise leave well alone, access makes this a tricky job even for experienced Toyota technicians.
