What to look for - Carina 2 1.6GL

Hi all,

 

New to this forum, and quite possibly Toyota this weekend!

 

I am now in the market for a new car, and have spotted a mint looking Carina 2 1.6gl with the 4A-FE engine in. Had a search on the forum already, and haven't found too much information on what to look out for, bar the usual wear and tear items, and ensuring cambelts etc have been replaced.

 

Are there any other faults too look out for with these cars, and is there any areas prone to rust? Hoping to keep this car for a while, and get it in a really nice condition :)

Check the fuel filler neck especially on the bend at the bottom for rot, as this is where they go first. They are a tough one to get hold of when the time comes when they seep petrol. Check for rust on the rear arches at the bottom of the rear doors, they always go there. How many miles has this one got on it? It certainly looks good on the pic.
