Newbie Auris owner - Slimline spare wheel?

Okay, so I don't actually take delivery till next Tuesday, but let's not let that stop me. Long-time diesel VW nut here, but now getting an 18 month old 1.6 Touring Icon Plus (64 reg), and looking forward to the change.

First of many questions, then. I often cover long distances on the continent, and I'm not convinced that a can of squirty foam in the boot is going to be good enough if I get a puncture on the autoroute. There seem to be plenty of slimline wheels out there for the Auris, but the ones I've seen are all 17 inches.

Is that right? Reason I'm asking is that my Auris comes with the 16 inch salad-shredder alloys - I'm assuming that the thinner tyres on the space savers would mean that 17 inch would be the right replacement?
