Greetings,Gentlefolk. My 2007 RAV4 makes a slight knocking sound when braking in reverse.Could it be a loose caliper or brake pad? Any help on this,I'll appreciate. Regards to all, kblevis.

I've noticed this on several of our RAVs. A single "clunk" may just be the pads shifting against the caliper as the wheel rotation reverses, i.e the pad gets dragged a tiny amount in the opposite direction to that which it usually experiences when normally braking forward. If there are continuous knocks as you brake in reverse, that is something else and needs looking at.

A "loose" calliper (i.e. loosening mounting bolts) would cause a lot more problems than occasional knocking.
