Corolla Verso Ignition Problem

Hi, I'm hoping someone on here might be able to shed some light on the problems I'm having starting my Corolla Verso.

I've recently bought this 2.2 D4D Diesel and it sounds like the starter motor is having a problem, but the garage I bought it from tell me it's ok and it's normal to do this for up to 25 seconds. I strongly suspect this isn't right?!?

Here is a short video of the start up sound - 

 

It will do this when started from cold, once started it seems ok and if I turn it off and straight back on it fires straight up.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.
