Shaking under load

Hey everyone.

My banks for your time.

I have a 2002 previa estima aeras jap import. Very very good car up to now.

Recently (last 3000 miles) I'm getting a vibration through the car when I accelerate under load. I bought initially it could be an engine mount perishing etc. Apparently not according to my garage.

It's more noticeable at certain times than others. When I've got all kids in car it's very evident. When just me, I'd have to hit it hard up a hill to get much of the shaking. Garage has twice tried to simulate the fault but can't. In my opinion because they need weight in the car to get it to do it and when you just have a single mechanic it's not going to do it.

In the last week I've now got a slight low end noise at 50-70 mph and a definite lack of tourque when accelerating. Just feels like it labouring quite badly.

Spoke recently to a friend in another country who knows about these things (mechanic for a fleet of mixed vehicles) and he straight away recommended the auto box oil needed to be checked and likely changed

does anyone have opinion on this before I go back to my garage ?

Bless you

julian

Your friend may well be right...it is something you should be checking on a regular basis anyway....just like your engine oil.

If the ATF is more "browny" than red..and has a "burnt" odour  then it definitely needs changing.

Check the ATF level with the engine warmed and running (in Park) and the vehicle on a flat surface.
