Please help! Rav 4 rear seat belt!

Hi everyone, I'm new here and hope you can help me please

I have a 1996 2l 5 door Rav. It's just failed its MOT on the rear centre seat belt buckle, it will not clip in unless you hold the red push button down as you slip seat belt buckle in..... I'm sure it's always been like this but being I rarely use the middle seat belt I'm unsure, I'm wondering if any of you fellow Rav owners have this issue too or whether yours just clip in like normal seat belts? 

I have found one on eBay to replace it with, but I'm reluctant to buy if it's going to do the same thing.
