I have now modified the Vac Gauge to suit connection to my Inlet, using std 4mm pipe.

I forced a steel nipple into the main body with a piece of old Morris 1000 dizzy rubber elbow (never throw anything away!)

Here is the new 4mm red silicone pipe I will re-do my carb and dizzy with (nice tight fit onto the gauge)

Quite the spaghetti twizzle, all the old rubber hose. I still have to do under the carb!

I have fitted the dizzy cap/leads & rotor.

Need to check timing and clean/tune carb......

I found this vid...

Very interesting the fact we have a 'water jacket link', flowing under the carb to aid warming/anti icing,  but [I imagine] should you remove the carb/upgrade, then antifreeze will well up and down into your inlet....

None of the 'fit a Weber upgrade' vids refer to this circumstance, though 🤔

A little dab'll do ya OK.... I'm starting to get a bit paranoid over *potentially slightly 'frilly' nether regions.... I have bodywax/internal preserver but this stuff will be under the floors, sills and all suspension steelwork 😃

YaY..... FerPrime BLACK Rust Converter arrived today!

I was wondering if I might stretch my tub a little, as my purchase is 500g.

"FerPrime Black can be thinned down with water if required, to enable its use in spray equipment. The amount of water that should be added will depend on the type of spray equipment being used."

Well.... That makes me feel SO much better 🙂

*a 20% dilution, on my first application [decanted into a narrow neck container] will give me some confidence.

Yesterday I found the car to have a fuel leak.
It is the small bore tank return, from the mech pump.

Thismorning, I dropped in to A V Taylor, Byker, 9AM...

3ft 3/16" flexi fuel pipe £3.50
2x 12MM screw clamps £1.50

...my MOT garage @9:15 >> 20min wait +£10 *'xmas fund'

£15 and home 👍

Opinions were the old rubber hose was goosed.

*and no, not DIY job as I hate fuel up my armpit!!

Further to my ongoing 'carb tune/refresh'....

71nFtUFwdnL._SL1500_.jpg

I popped for this MuchhoLonggo bowden Choke cable.

I'm unhappy with how [I suspect] the autochoke is not always coming completely OFF. With a straightforward ON/OFF install there will be no doubt... and I can cut the choke almost immediately on straight running/non at all in warm weather.

I will modify the T-pull on this, replacing with a button knob 🎱

Piccies, as always....

My pack of 10x 3MM black vinyl cap ends have turned up.

They will block off Vac ports on the carb and manifold, nice and neat...

Today I popped the trim off above the pedals, looking to pick up on the wiring to install my 'plip locking' kit. The loom is very densly wrapped as it exits the door boot.... I couldn't see any way of picking out the locking wiring easily.

Plan B : I think I'm going to run 2 wires up into the switch base >> these will take the signals down, through the door jamb boot, and then into the control box. Bit of a faff BUT no loom chopping!

Do it all another day.... Bloominn freezing out!

One of my sidelights went off - 5W T10 - luckily I found one in an old Ring bulb kit, from poondland. I had to twist the holder with an OE spanner, inserted behind the headlight void.. Horizontally.. as the space is bare big enough for a childs hand.

All sorted now

Anyone had long test of LED T10 type bulbs (not jazzy BLOO ones)?

I had some Led's in mine, but one of them flickered a little, it was a cheap one off of eBay, and I do intend on ordering new ones soon. Today I put a normal 501 back in as one had gone the other night. The wiring plan sounds like a good one 😄

I have been looking at my rear Speakers... and wondering how to swap them out.

Nothing shows how the 'beauty trims' come up/off the parcel shelf... No screws underneath.

I grabbed the cover and pulled vigorously, fingernails under the edge... NOTHING... Fuelled with that obstinate fury, 'computer says No!' style, I heaved mightily AGAIN >> TWANGGG...

A prybar will be a toolbox deffo when I'm doing it again!

The retaining spring clips actually mate with the 'square formed/pressed steel' speaker cone chassis.... If you bin the speaker you lose the retainer holes = GR8

I am considering cutting the cone out of the steel & installing the new cones inside the hole. Another way might be finding a cone/cover combo to go over the factory shelf hole OR Velcro to stick the original cover directly onto the shelf material...

I will give it some thought......

Re Above...

..... Here, the guy has cut off the square cone chassis & reinstalled it - flipped! - on top of his upgrade to retain the Clip-On factory cover.

Quite neat TBH
