Hi & welcome to the forum.

The major oil-burning issue is supposed to have been fixed in production ~ mid-2005 iirc so a 2008 should be fine. Bear in mind that it may still use some oil but that is perfectly normal.

Can't speak for anything other than my own MY09 1.8 Verso, but that hasn't used a drop in 6000 miles of driving.

That's quite a lot of oil, sure there's no leaks RytisJ ?

Hi Lain. Thanks, in responding. I am not finding any sign of leak. Toyota service (where I used to change oil) also are concluding that there is no leak from engine. The problem is internal. My fault not checking oil level. On the other hand the reminders I was getting already 3 years (each time after oil change) in Toyota service. Internal problem have been developing up to "VSC check" indication, and up to power loss when trying accelerate impulsively. Now I accelerate smoothly, so engine not choke. (here is hard to choose right wording according to motorist language).

As with all engines much depends on how the car has been looked after.  Have a look at the post from Tony HSD titled  'Very interesting video about engine oil and the latest Rav4 2.5 dynamic force engine'
