3sfe Ipsum 1998 problem

hey there. ive got a 3sfe ipsum/picnic good service history, 201000 km. so i noticed it was using a lot of oil, and found two things. heavy white smoke on revving at constant 3k revs , and the oil pump gasket had gone. (replaced now) head gasket is fine had that checked. the white smoke does not smell like oil and theres no blow by . any ideas?
