Differential lock switch

Hello all new to the forum. I just bought a 1990 Land Cruiser with a 4.2 diesel engine in the UK. I have it in the US now. The differential lock switch in my LC is engaged and wanted to know how to put it to the "OFF" position. Is it as simple as pushing in the switch and putting it in the off position or does anything else have to be done like pressing on the brake, pushing in the clutch etc? Thanks all for any advice. John
