Whistling sound from engine bay

Morning all. We have a hybrid auris touring sport that is less than 12 months old. The other day when driving back from work we heard a whistling sound coming from the engine bay. I wasn't crushing with a constant throttle opening. I found if I kept the same throttle opening the whistling would continue. This happened in a couple of occasions Same journey home.Any ideas what this could be? I have yet to look under the bonnet it had been raining since and I don't want to get moisture under the hood. I was wondering whether it could have been the site intake or something.
