Expensive diesel better?

I filled up from nearly empty with the dear stuff and the car appears to be much more responsive. It used to feel gutless but now pulls on in all gears and occasionally is quite fun to drive. Not sure if its my imagination tho.

I use premium diesel (usually Shell) for the supposedly better cleaning properties to hopefully minimise potential EGR etc. issues - any better perceived performance/mpg would be a bonus.

When I used to run a diesel, I'd fill up with regular fuel and use some Millers Diesel Power Ecomax. Seemed to keep the engine running sweet.
