New Car - not so nippy & a bit wobbly!

Hi all

I am the proud new owner of a 2006 T Spirit 1.3 VVT-i.  It has full Toyota Service History and only 33,000 miles on the clock!  The car drives like it is on rails but on the motorway at very high speed the car feels vague, and to be honest, not very safe.  I suspect that Long John (Silver) needs a little TLC.  My old 2004 Yaris (Olive) was a bit smaller with a similar engine and had 130,000 on the clock but always felt surprisingly confident (on the Autobahn) :2guns: My new car feels a little less fast and sure-footed at speed.  I guess that the suspension may need to be checked?

I wonder if any one can please help me with any suggestions as to which spring and/or shock-absorbers would be the best replacements and possibly with a slightly sportier feel?

Also, my new car seems a bit less nippy.  The engine seems super sweet but not as quick.  I'd be very grateful if anybody can explain to me why this is the case, please.

Lastly, I'm pleased to be able to tell you that my old Yaris lives on and recently left the UK for her new home in Cyprus .

Increased weight would be one factor - around 110kg heavier than the first generation.

At only 33k miles is the car still on it's original tyres?

If so 11 year old tyres will be getting a bit hard and possibly cracking sidewalls by now. Might be worth changing them or seeing if you can borrow another set to try and see if that improves things.

Thank you very much Frostyballs & Craggle!!

Your information is very useful.

I'm going to check the tyres and will bear in mind the increased weight.

Many thanks!

Best wishes for a wonderful Wednesday!!  :o)
