Hi all, I've just joined this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Stu, I live in Southsea, Hampshire. My car is a high miler 2007 Avensis tourer 2.2 D-4D (175000 miles) which i picked up cheap. Since buying it I've read horror stories of this engine suffering from head gasket problems but fingers crossed mine seems to be ok.

Hi Stu & welcome to TOC 

Bear in mind that only a very small % of these actually develop the head/head-gasket problem so hopefully you will be OK. At 175,000 miles unless it has already had replacements you are probably more likely to run into clutch/DMF or injector issues due to the high mileage & associated wear.

What engine oil should i put in a high miler? fully or semi synth?
