Corolla 1.4 d4d ecu/alternator issue

Hi guys I have a 05 corolla 1.4d4d and lately a whirring noise came into the car. A week or two later after a night drive the Battery was dead

My mechanic says the alternator was gone but when he replaced it the Battery is still not charging and now he says the problem was the ECU gone faulty and caused the issue with the alternator.

He says I need a new ECU and alternator !! This is at a cost of €1300. The car was running fine and it has no engine management lights or any warning lights showing on the dash !!

Any ideas ???

Hi,

Get a second opinion from another garage.

Yes try another garage, and also check the Battery that has been fitted is the correct one for your car. Did the garage inspect the wiring off the alternator ? You may also be able to get an Engine ECU much cheaper off eBay.
