Noise

Hi. We just got mrs PD's 5 year old iQ3 back after nearly three weeks away being re-painted (yes, its white!). After driving around in a Yaris hybrid loan car for that time, I am reminded how noisy the iQ is, mostly coming from the rear. Its not a new noise, rather just as it always was.

Have any of you fitted additional soundproofing? If so, did it work and what did you use?

I've had my iQ3 for 6 years now, and can't really say I've noticed any noise from the back apart from the sound of stones in the wheel arches.

My IQ3 makes a loud regular thumping sound on the M25 sometimes. It is partly due to the road of course but I wonder whether other cars are quite as loud. I cannot say that it particularly bothers me though.

My iQ3 is noticeably louder than my partners Yaris hybrid on the road.

I think the main problem is the iQ has the front wheels a few inches in front of your toes and the rear wheels a few inches behind your seat. If you look at a normal sized car the front wheels are in the engine bay and the rear wheels and in the boot space.

You could strip all the interior out and add soundproofing mats everywhere before putting it back together but that would take some time, cost a lot and probably make a small difference. Have to ask yourself if it is worth it.

Craig.
