Continuous beeping when driving

After a quick trip to the shops yesterday my 2012 Prius plus now starts to beep continuously once I go over 5kmh and there is a (!) symbol in red next to the ready light. The manual says this is a problem with the parking brake. Anyone else had any experience of this?

I think that warning light may double up as a low brake fluid warning as well, check the fluid level.

Have you had a flat 12V Battery recently?  That can sometimes throw up weird warnings until you've done several restarts, although I don't recall it causing this specific symptom.

Brake fluid level was normal if I remember rightly but will double check.

I’ve  not had a flat Battery, up until this problem the car has been perfect.

is it possible that dirt or wet has gotten into a sensor somewhere?

Might be worth looking at the parking brake switch, might be stuck so that it thinks the brake is still on.
