The new bulbs probably have a lower resistance or ohms, call it what you wish. Have you got a mulitmeter to measure the impedance of the old and new bulbs touching the bottom contact with the + lead and the - ative lead on the shiny side body of the bottom part of the bulb when fully assembled, I suspect the new bulbs resistance is lower.

Pretty sure it's higher resistance, thinking about it. Rapid flashing indicators is the safety feature to let us know a bulb has blown. Fewer bulbs in parallel means higher resistance,  triggering the rapid flash.

Cars with standard 382 flasher bulbs, one in the front and the other in the rear, well ignoring the side repeater if you take out either the front or rear bulb the flashing rate doubles because of the lesser resistance, the bulb element itself creates a resistance hence why they glow white so the less 'obstacles' in the circuit the more power that goes to the ones that are left.

Good find, Mike169. . I always thought it was by design rather than happy accident!

With resistors in parallel,  take one away and the resistance rises. Counter-intuitive or what? If the bulbs were in series, one blowing would cut the whole line.

With led indicators just install a Led flasher relay, they are modified for leds. You can find them on eBay for cheap.

did the same thing on my 2010 verso, now led indicators all round
