Hi

Any easy way of knowing if a 2002 1.0 Yaris has power steering or not?

The usual way is to turn the engine on and try and turn the steering wheel when stationary - If you can turn it with one hand, it's got power steering. If you need both hands to apply a lot of force, it doesn't.

With cars that have hydraulic power steering, like the Mk1 Yaris, the other way is to look under the bonnet and see if there is a power steering fluid reservoir.

I think all Mk1 Yarisusesisus have hydraulic power steering as standard however.

The Mk1 has electric power steering so there will be no such reservoir.

My son's 2002 Mark1 had hydraulic steering - it was Japan built. I think the switch to electric was when production moved to France mid 2002.
