1959 Toyopet ashtray/toy?

Hello, 

Ist time here and I have a question on an old toy  and  I do own and enjoy my 1999 Camry that is my daily driver.

I bought a 1959 Toyopet ashtray for $10 because it looks like something special[to me anyway].

It is approx. 9" long and heavy solid metal at 3 lbs. It appears to be brass but may be plated? It has a removable metal top with plastic glass[rear windscreen is missing]. 

A couple of ?s. Is it brass? Is it collectible beyond the $10 that I paid? Was it a promotional piece? Ect.?

 I couldn't find anything on it but did see that one was sold at auction without the top and a little more beaten. The site that showed the sale charges for providing the sale price but I can't afford to pay per month for something that I may never use again.

Oh well, I'm not sure if this is where I should start asking, if not maybe someone can point me in the right direction?
