Air Conditioner Not Working.

Just swiched on the Air Con for the first time this year on my 2010 Yaris and it's not blowing cold at all. Recently had a service and recall for passenger air bag replacement. Probably a coincidence, but any ideas how to rectify/fault find the problem i.e. regas, electrical, etc.

Any advice appreciated,

Best wishes from,

Gibson.

Air conditioning really needs to be used regularly - for example every week - throughout the year to keep the deals lubricated and prevent gas loss. In the winter air con when used with the heater provides better demisting, etc.

Think in the first instance the system has to be checked for leaks, etc before regassing.

Can't see the passenger airbag recall having anything to do with the air con issue.

This is the third car we've had with aircon.

First one was a Clio from brand new in 2001, and the aircon was left on throughout her time with us -  April 2001 to September 2017 - 98,000miles.  Not one single issue at all.  Permanently on for all those years/miles.  Perfect when we sold it.  Zero maintenance other than pollen filter changes.

Next one was a Fiat500, bought secondhand in October 2014.  We switched on the aircon immediately we drove it off the forecourt, and it was left on until we traded it in for our Yaris Hybrid in August 2017.  It worked perfectly and worked perfectly over the 18,000miles we owned it.  Zero maintenance, the pollen filter was checked but was fine.

Our Yaris is similarly treated.  It's on. Permanently, and we have no plans for turning it off.

Aircon is just that, an air conditioning unit.  It can be warm or hot, or cool or cold.  It cleans and dehumidifies the air.  The windows stay mist free, and the car never smells damp.
