Lift working with broken lift bolt

good day. bought a corolla hatch with a 2zz about 6 months ago and recently found out about lift bolts. so i contacted the previous owner and he said the lift bolt has been broken since he bought the car and that was about 60 000 km ago which is about 38 000 miles. the lift still works well and i was wondering could the bolt have disintegrated or can i use a magnet to get it out or i do i need to remove the cam shafts and everything to get it out? advise will be greatly appreciated. Joshua Roberts
