Transaxle Oil Change?

Hi,

Is it worth getting the transaxle oil replaced at the next service? The car will have 30k miles on it.

I don't usually drive the car hard, but the two times I did, it started to smell hot. The vast majority of the time I never go faster than ~55 MPH, or into the power band. My shortest journey is about 20 minutes at 50 MPH.

I know it is possible to sit here all day and debate "sealed for life", etc.., but I'd like to do what I can to maximize longevity of the drivetrain without being absurd. I can't decide if 30k is too early. It's not like a gearbox with clutches.

IIRC, the oil needs changing at around 150,000 miles. I asked for my 'gearbox' oil to be changed as I have done over 60,000 miles - the price turned out to be well over £200 as the process is something like drain, fill, run engine and gearbox (statically?), top-up, run engine and gearbox and top up. I cancelled the operation as it was too expensive for me.

It might be best to (Mod edit) read the manual online to check the full process and DIY?

My original post on this matter.

Still use of inappropriate language - and it is a forum that has certain terms and conditions.

I guess I should have read the forum manual more closely.
