Head unit not functioning

My flip down sat nav head unit decided to stop working. Sounds like something is running inside, i have no power on the screen and buttons, buttons light up every 5 minutes or so for 1 second. I cant turn it on during that second or operate any functions. I can't flip down or tilt the screen. I've pulled the unit out and checked the wiring but all looks good. Any ideas?
