Trying to find out if my 2013 Verso 2.0 diesel  has a timing belt or chain and how often does it need replacing.  Can’t find any information anywhere

thanks Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to TOC 🙂

If it is a 1AD-FTV it will be a chain.

I am reasonably sure that it will be a 1AD-FTV. Not sure if they fitted the 2.0 BMW diesel to the Verso but that is chan-driven too.

I know that they fitted the 1,6 BMW diesel but not sure if they fitted the 2.0.

  • 1 year later...

As I understand a simple method to know about 95% of the time if the whole engine is metal then it has a timing chain but if one section is made of plastic it has a timing belt.  This section should be close to the alternator.

Given that the original post is nearly two years old he probably knows if it is a chain or a belt by now.
