Trying To Trace Previous Owner

Hi is there anyone on here that previously  owned our GT86 Giallo or might know who it was. The reg is PJ64 KTT and was for sale at Carshop in Cardiff but originally bought from Marshalls in Peterborough.

I’m trying to find the spare ‘keyless entry’ fob and the Sigma alarm fobs as the truly useless Carshop Superstore say that all they had was 1 fob from the previous owner. There should be 4 in total. 2xToyota & 2xSigma

Thanks,

Bod

Hi James and Sam.

Surely the person's name was in the log book or just ask the Toyota dealer, there's 2 lines of enquiry for you.

Thanks Mike,

The log book isn’t back yet and I’m kind of impatient to get this sorted.

The dealer won’t give out any information as usual in this day and age.

Reading this has got me thinking. Inside the glovebox on mine there is a numpad with Sigma on it and i was not given any details on this when i purchased the car from my local Toyota dealer. I assume it could be some kind of immobiliser and i fear if and when the car Battery fails it will activate somehow and need a PIN code inputting!!!

Time to call the dealer and get the info i need.

That’s what we’ve got Phil. I looked on the net for sigma car alarms and the pad we have goes on the S30 system. Having said that, the sonic/motion sensors look different and I can’t find the siren for the system anywhere.

Enquiries are continuing. I’ll report back soon.

From factory the GT86 only come with 2 x Toyota keyless keys there are no additional fobs for the alarm system uses the standard Toyota key to arm/disarm.

So are you saying @Devon Aygo that the Sigma system is a standard fitting?

Actually I’ve just realised that Subaru use Sigma as their alarm system and a GT86 is in reality a Subaru.

All is starting to make sense.

So all I need is the code for the keypad.

Hi.

Most modern locksmiths that advertise electronic car keys should be able to tell you the code. Since you have an existing keypad they should have a reader that tells them/you what the frequency is an should be able to supply you with a duplicate key. Before you pay for it try the new one works ok just incase.

All GT86 got an Alarm system fitted when they passed through Port of entry so standard in terms of UK spec but not a factory fit part ( not sure if current models have it ), as far as I can remember there was a small additional booklet detailing the alarms functions and a PIN number for the glove box key pad

Thats great news, i had no luck myself and RRG Toyota were not able to help so i guess i am in trouble if anything happens. I will have a word with my local car security specialists to get their opinion on the matter.

Well I said I’d report back so here we go.

I got a nice email back from the previous owner to say that he handed everything over to The Car Shop when he traded the car in. After a long battle they where quite forthright in their last email to say that they were done with this matter and not to contact them again about it. They then put a block on our emails.

So the upshot is that somewhere in the Car Shop empire is a spare GT86 key fob and a Sigma Alarms booklet with our security code on it.

That leaves us with two possible options.

First we could put it in the hands of our Toyota dealer o supply us a new fob and code it, followed by resetting the Sigma code. Possible cost of around £350+.

Second, (and this is where you guys can maybe advise me if it’s possible) source a second hand fob and possibly code it myself using the dark magic of 2 pushes of this, 4 presses of that, do a funny dance etc etc. Once that is done I’ll have two working fobs which then enables me to reset the Sigma code.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Bod
