2006 D4D 2.2 Verso misfire under acceleration

I just replaced the leaking rotten fuel with a new part. 

The car started and ran fine for about 4 miles, then when trying to accelerate up a 60mph hill the engine started to misfire quite badly. I pulled off the road and sat for a couple of minutes with the engine at idle talking to a passenger, and when we started driving again it seemed ok.

When we got into town I could still detect a small misfire under load.  

There are no warning lights. 

Any clues?
