Corolla Verso arm rest replacement

I own a 2006 Toyota Corolla Verso which I've owned for two years now. The driver and passenger arm rests are very worn and patchy so I've bought two replacement armrests from a younger Corolla Who, 2008 I think. The newer ones are in immaculate condition but when I went to change them over the securing arrangements are completely different, not just a little bit but totally. 

Has anyone had this issue at all? Is it possible to just change over the working parts on the armrests? I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter. Kindest regards.

That is a Corolla Verso, not a Corolla Who. Moved to the Corolla club. 

Also not a Japanese import, as they were built for the European Market in Turkey.
