Presumably PSA, following the purchase of Vauxhall/Opel have a surplus of manufacturing capacity, and together with the expansion of using PSA platforms for Vauxhall/Opel (eg. Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Rifter/Vauxhall Combo, new Corsa due next year based on the 208, etc), don't need part ownership of Kolin.

They've already announced the Adam and Viva (built by GM Korea for which PSA pay a licence to GM) will end in 2019.

Also wonder if Toyota are hedging their bets as regards Brexit - with a view to transferring production of the Corolla if need be.

As to whether Kolin will build the replacements for the C1/108/Viva, may be open to question.

Interesting news, car production and manufacturer tie ups so fluid nowadays, what would been shocking few years ago is now common place. When we got our 107 all those years ago, the Toyota connection was a reassuring factor, so be interested to see what happens with PSA / GM groups next small car  offering.

Toyota taking overall ownership of Kolin doesn't necessarily mean that the next generation city car won't be a shared model between Toyota and PSA. A similar level of cost savings through having a shared model will still be there for both manufacturers, and, with PSA building vans for Toyota (the Proace and the forthcoming Toyota version of the Berlingo) the partnership seems to be expanding rather than contracting.
