Alarm system

I have T registration Toyota Corolla 1.6 automatic and the alarm has recently been going off intermittently and seems to be being set off by the sun coming in and out of clouds and if the wind picks up. It was never affected like this before. Currently I have disabled the alarm by removing the Battery from the fob and closing the doors manually. Any ideas what the cause could be and how much it might be to get the alarm fixed, presumably it would have to be done at a Toyota dealer?

Thank's for any assistance.

Geoff.

Geoff.

I have an R Reg Corolla. If I locked the doors with the fob and unlocked them with the key the alarm went off. I contacted a Toyota garage and the advice given was to stop using the fob because if you lock the car with it and it packs up you are up the creek without a paddle. The Toyota dealer and all of the other auto key specialists I contacted said that replacement fobs of this age are not available. In my searches I read something about the door courtesy light buttons failing and causing problems so I've replaced the front pair that had failed. In the meantime the Battery went flat in the fob so I've not got round to testing the system.

I know little about how the alarm system on the Toyota works and only going by what i've recently picked up.

Ok. Thanks. I've just contacted my local Toyota dealer and they've quoted me £90 Just to diagnose the alarm system. So I think I'll give it a miss.

Regards.

Not sure if you've checked this, but some car alarm boxes have a button Battery inside. If you pull off the side you may see It. The box may be under the wing or concealed somewhere . A Haynes manual will indicate where perhaps. If the battery fails, the alarm stops sounding.
