Engine Management when towing caravan

Have a 2005 Rav 4 , works perfectly well until towing a caravan when engine management light comes on and VSC , TRC is displayed,  and loss of power . If you turn the engine off and then turn back on again engine  management light stays on but the other two warnings go out and car starts and works ok again for about 5 miles and then does the same again
