RAV4 Front Brakes

So I'm planning on replacing the brakes (and rotors) on my 2009 RAV4 (3.5L V6 w/ 3rd row) and I was thinking of using Bosch "QuietCast" brakes, but apparently I can't use the ceramic ones? For example, when I search on Amazon/ebay/Bosch, I'm given the option of using the BP1210 (which I think is the "premium" non-ceramic brake) not the BC1210. If I change my vehicle trim to the V4, I'm now given the option of using the ceramics in front.

Oddly, I am given the option of using the ceramics on the rear brakes, regardless of engine size.

Can someone explain why?

Thanks.

Hi Gordon, welcome to TOC 🙂

This is largely an UK/European based club & we certainly don't get the option of a V6 RAV4 here so I don't know that anybody can really answer you knowledgeably.

The front brakes on a V6 model are larger than those on a 4 cylinder engined Rav4 whereas the the rear brakes are shared with both engine types. I suspect Bosch just don't list an option suitable for the V6

You didn't happen to see if there was an option suitable for the 4 cylinder engine with 3rd row seats as these share the larger front brakes fro the V6 model something aftermarket suppliers may not be aware of?
