Touch 2 Go: resetting the head unit to factory defaults

Hi.

Well, I have a failed map update on our recently purchased C-HR (2017) which has left the head unit in a weird state.

I was attempting to update from 6.8.1WH to 6.12.0H.

The 2018 maps (6.12.0H) were downloaded from MyToyota (free) and placed on the required USB stick. All steps were followed and the update went as planned. Or at least seemed to.

The initial validation went to 100% and I unticked all European locations other than UK and Ireland. The next stage of the load got to "Package 6/8 50%, overall progress 69%" then the message read "restarting system".

And that's where it all went pear shaped.

All that appears on the screen (with no USB stick inserted) is this:

If I reinsert the update USB then after 2 or 3 minutes the screen becomes responsive and I can use the radio, plus all the new features seem to be installed, like the new right-to-left slide-in of the menus. While inserted, the USB is being constantly accessed.

However, navigation appears to be missing and a lot of the menu items are greyed out.

I redownloaded the update and loaded to a fresh USB to try and restart the process but the head unit isn't having any of it - the USB drive simply flashes constantly as above.

So, my question is... what are my options? Can the head unit be forcibly reset to factory defaults to allow me to retry this update, or at least put it back in the state it was before I meddled?

Thanks for any assistance here.

Regards

Steve.

UPDATE:

The head unit is now back and fully functional RMgGndM.gif

The dealer queried my choice of downloaded version as he said 6.12.0H was not what was advised for this system. He brought out a usb stick and said he'd try to install 6.12.0WH over the top.

This was successful.

He said the combination of me installing 6.12.0H and then deselecting various worldwide countries had probably contributed to the issue.

So, thanks to all who contributed, and I hope this solution helps others in the same predicament.
