Hi All

I bought a used 2013 Auris Hybrid hatchback at the end of January.

So far, so good - until the 12V Battery 'died' the other night and I had to call out the AA to recharge it. Looking to replace the Battery, which has been deemed faulty.

Hi D, welcome to TOC 🙂

Did you buy the car from a dealer/trader? If so, you could probably get them to replace it foc under the Consumer Act 2015. https://www.whatcar.com/news/your-legal-rights-if-something-goes-wrong-with-your-car/n3307

Hello and thank you for the welcome, and for the useful link, @Heidfirst! 😊

Yes, I purchased the car from a dealer. I’ve had a conversation with them: they stated that, as I did not take out an extended warranty at the time of purchase, I would need to meet the cost of a replacement Battery

I’ve researched online and can pick up a new Battery for around £45-£50, so I’m minded to do that rather than go down the legal route. Given that the car is six years old, I suspect that the dealer will claim fair wear and tear. (Dealing with them is like pulling teeth, anyway ... 😕)
