2019 Rav 4 - delivery - lead times - order to delivery

I would agree with Heidfirst.  When Toyota issued the RAV4 bulletin to the trade in the first few days of December (dated 27/11/2018) it was clearly stated to my dealer to expect to see a car for the showroom in February and a demonstrator in March with the first FWD cars being delivered to customers in April followed by AWD models in May. So far those dates have held true. My AWD car was ordered on 6th December and accepted in the Toyota ordering system with a delivery date of 1st May. I have yet to find out the exact lead time from factory to dealer but I suspect that what we are now seeing is the result of high demand in the UK which can only be good in the long term. We have grown used to short delivery times for Japanese cars but longer times are quite normal with several other makes. I often feel that this is quite deliberate as it helps maintain prices and discourages discounting. No manufacturer likes press photos of large numbers of unsold cars.  Be patient everybody.  I feel sure we will not be disappointed.  I have driven my dealer's FWD Dynamic and was highly impressed.

Yes good news but a little frustrating . But why can’t we track our cars from ordering to dealership . If members don’t ask Toyota uk they won’t think it’s important ?

Hi Oscar,

That’s a quick delivery date, well done. Hope you enjoy.

Hi,

I believe a ship has arrived this week so hopefully many more will get theirs. I was quoted beginning of May at the time. Is a lease through Toyota financial services.

Regards,

O

My dealer told me that even they cannot track the cars accurately.  The online system gives an indication but is often out of date with cars still showing as not yet delivered when they are sitting on their forecourt.  Usually the first they know of a delivery is when it turns up on the low loader!  Clearly car manufacturers could learn a lot from the likes of courier companies with their online tracking and 1 hour slots but then again, they might decide it is not in their interest to give too much detail. I am quite certain that the car logistics companies know exactly where every car is at any given time.

...I'm hoping to get mine in June/early July (or preferably sooner), but my dealer has been unable to confirm a build date as of a couple of days ago.

Finally got my first estimate just now, 27th June to dealer, with usual caveat that it can change.

This is for Excel AWD, solid white, beige interior and JBL/PVM package.

Not quite quick enough to avoid 1st MOT on the Prius (not that I expect any issues).

Hope you all get your new RAV4 soon. I'm curious to hear about some "real life" fuel consumption.

Sonds nice Pete.

I would have oredered the same model trim ( nice with beige interior and electrical driverseat with memory) if I cold have an hight adjustable passenger seat ( its a bit to high for my daughter who has disabilities)

Thanks.  When I get mine I'll continue to log all fuel used and miles and calculate my own tank to tank fuel consumption.

Might be worth checking with your dealer whether there's scope to adjust something in the seat mounting to make it lower.

On some trim levels the Lexus equivalent (NX) to the previous version of the RAV4 both seats were fully electrically adjustable (and had three memories, plus steering wheel height & reach was electrically adjustable too, and included in the memory settings), but it was a lot more expensive.

I've already asked my local dealer about possibilities to modify the passenger seat and even asked about to order an UK styled driverseat as passenger seat but they say that there isn't any such possibilities. Possibly if  I let a company thats specialiced at customicing cars do thw work and it would be very expensive!!!

Will check Lexus NX 300h but I think its to low in  boot hight for transporting our daughters (manual) wheelchair. Has to be at leas 75 cm  (about 29 17/32" i think) and prefarably 79cm (about 31 7/64")  in hight right behind the rear seats

As I can understand , my local dealer suppose that any "modification or swap" possibly will affect insurance and warranties.

I'll check this more next week

Insurers can be really funny about surprising things.

I can understand about spoilers, skirts, 'go-faster' stripes and so on that smack of boy racer, but a year or two back when I was getting quotes Co-op Insurance refused to quote for my Gen 3 Prius because I had the Toyota official side body mouldings stuck on the doors by the dealer (as in current photo).  The lady consulted with an underwriter before coming back with the news!  When pressed, she said they "altered the dimensions of the car"!  I asked how they could possibly be concerned about something that was about ½ inch thick and protected the car from paint chips caused by people carelessly opening their doors.

Last month, when doing the annual round of quotes because my premium had risen dramatically again, one web site had a tick list of modifications that even included magnetic advertising signs on the doors!

I often have to phone for a quote (and miss possible web discounts or cashback) because I have more "changes to standard specification" than some web sites allow, and I've never yet been charged any extra, but I want to be sure I'm not giving them any excuse to refuse a claim for "failure to disclose".

Hi.

I have no association with Adrian Flux insurers but they specialise with modified cars, even just seat changes and their quote to insure my non Toyota was over £300 cheaper than the company I had been with for years, loyalty does not pay. There's an Adrian Flux man on here named  https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/profile/115392-danadrian-flux/ who can assist anyone I believe. I have 2 of my cars insured with Adrian Flux now as their prices were much lower than companies you'd think would be lower and they do all the usual extra's, legal protection, key fobs 'if lost' and so on.

I have my new top of the range Rav 4 with all the extras ordered from Start of April.  I was given a delivery date of Start of June, that changed to Mid-June and today I was told it was pushed back till mid-July?  Anyone know what’s going on?

Mine was ordered on the 28th March and I am being told 15th July ! With regard to fuel consumption, there is a new video on YouTube 1001 cars showing city driving for 11.8 miles and they got 68.9 mpg, hows that !

Enjoy your weekend, don’t spend it all driving though !

The last 7 miles of my journey home was almost all on electric, all below 40mph. Just around the city I can estimate if it was 30mph or lower it could be even higher than 60 odd mpg as it more or less stays in EV mode.

I’ve just posted a note, someone getting 68.9 mpg over 11.8 miles of city driving on YouTube so looking good for cheap motoring.

i will be able to claim back 22 ppm on company business so I expect to be quids in .
