Hi All,

I've just traded in my 12 year old Auris 2.0 D4D with 105,000 and got a 2016 Auris 1.2T icon, and all going well except that I find that when starting and driving the "stop/start" icon comes on the dash saying "Battery charging" and the stop start hasn't been working. What do you guys think!.

Don't bother to reply, as I just gone further back on the forum and found a similar question, and it seems like that's just how its going to be ...far to complicated to even worry about.....either it works or it doesn't, it will be turned off manually every time from now.

" it will be turned off manually every time from now" Good idea. It should be designed off by default and the driver choose whether to switch on or not.

Too much stress on the starter motor, Battery and engine in my opinion.

My experience with stop/start is the whole Battery system has to be 100%. I bought a 24month old i30, and took it back to the dealer when the stop/start realty worked. They put the car Battery on slow charge for 24 hours which improved the situation greatly, but there were still so many circumstances that it would not work.

I've had two Auris from new with stop start. Yes there are certain parameters within which the system works, but caused no issue with day to day running of the car. Just let the system operate as intended.
