TRC VSC Cruise Control and Sidelights

Hi all, first time posting so I hope you can help :/

I have a 2004 Avensis 2.0 T-Spirit. I had a rear sidelight bulb stop working, so decided to upgrade to LED bulbs. Whilst changing the bulbs (what a faf that is!) I noticed the new bulb was only illuminating when I pushed the bulb deeper into the socket. Figuring the terminals were probably too low to make contact I decided to bend them up a little to ensure a good connection. Before anybody calls me a numpty for the next part (yes I know I am), in my infinite wisdom I decided to use a metal screwdriver to bend the terminals up, but forgot to disconnect the power to the bulb holder first. Needless to say the were a few sparks (and a couple of expletives from me). I then disconnected the power, resumed bending up the terminals, fitted the bulb (r n/s) which then worked. I made sure not to repeat my mistake on the o/s, Next time I drove the car, everything was normal, no warning lights. When I switched on the lights TRC and VSC warning lights came on. The "Cruise" light comes on when i activate the cruise control, but the cruise control does not work. When I turn the lights off the fault remains. If I switch the lights off and the engine off and restart the engine, everything clears and works normally - in short, turning on the lights stops the VSC TRC ABS and Criuse Control from working.

Before I start resetting systems with paper clips in the OBD terminals and driving straight at 25mph or more for more than 10secs, does anybody have any simpler fixes first? Maybe a fuse or control module that needs replacing somewhere?

Awaiting your responses - but please dont direct me to the TRC VSC fault thread, I've already read it, I'm looking for new ideas please, preferably explaining why the sidelights are causing the issue
