1st gen 4runner/Hilux running rough under load

I have a first generation 4runner/Hilux motorhome American import. 2.4 RE engine with auto box . It runs fine on tick over but as soon as you put into gear and drive it runs lumpy and and misses . I would really love to be able to drive her this summer without worrying about pulling away. Do any of you lovely folk have some advice or know someone in Norfolk UK that could give me some advice or help.
