2003 Corolla 2.0 D4D

Considering a 2003 Corolla 2.0 D4D.

I've heard that this engine was the same diesel as was used in the MK2 Avensis of the time. However, the Avensis D4D  engine has a bad reputation for headgasket problems (sorted out in later cars).

Is it the same engine withe the same problems? Is the Corolla version reliable?

As far as I'm aware the Corolla used the 1CD-FTV diesel. The AD series diesel was introduced in the Avensis from 2005 some of which did have head gasket/oil consumption issues.

Cheers - just another question, do they have a DMF clutch?

Mine is a 2006 D4D and has a Dual Mass Flywheel but no DPF
