Is HE3953 still the latest version? I went on Toyota-Tech.eu but couldn't find where these updates are.

Yes - 3953 is the latest and possibly the last for the touch2, as the gen 4 now uses the MM17

Thank you.

I have another slightly older non hybrid Yaris without Go.

The software says XE3809 and the model ID is 13TXDAEU-CA02.

Presumably that's not the latest version, if not how do i get hold of it?

Thanks again.

Hi.

I hope this thread is still live and flash22 is still around 🙂

I’m new Toyota owner and got a 2014 Yaris!

My problem is when I connect my iPhone it tells me that phone is not connected properly try reconnecting. However when I play music via Spotify, iTunes or anything it DOES play it. When tried it with my wife’s iPhone, which is an older model than mine, album art, artist, title all show up on screen.

I realized it might need and firmware update which led me here eventually. I have attached details of the head unit as a photo but still.

Software Version: XE3809

Device ID: 13TXDAEU-CA02

Thanks in advance and thanks for all the information on previous posts.

Does the kwi file have to be the ONLY file on the stick?

I opened a brand new 32GB stick and put just that file on it, but it has a System Volume Information folder on it with two files in that, which I cannot delete.?

At present, it is not being recognised and is definitely FAT32.

Format the stick in windows, even tho it's preformatted it may not be correct

You may have to go into the hidden menu and do a manual update

Press and hold the car button and turn the headlights on and off 3 times

Tap System information - program update

Not accepting it.

Tried another smaller stick (4GB) and still not recognised.

I know the USB port works as I have all my music on a 128GB USB stick and it plays fine, though I have been using bluetooth from my phone, since I bought a new phone.

I entered the hidden menu and found the Program Update, also saw the DA and Navi values.

It states to enter media, but does not enable the OK button.

I looked at Fault Diagnosis and the DA has Detail enabled and two codes, just the two codes, no dates or anything else

Did you clear the codes, if so did they come back ?

Both of those are failed to communicate

go into the other hidden menu and do a INIT (system reset)

Press and hold the settings button and turn the lights on and off 3 times, press and hold the INIT button for 5-10 second a prompt may then pop up

I noticed that the Touch 2 units are quite picky on the USB when it comes to firmware updates. Only true USB 2.0 sticks are recognized. Any USB 3.0 stick won't work (even though they work fine for playing music). FAT32 formatted is all it has to be.
I tried it with a 16GB USB 2.0 stick from Hema (so basically a cheap Chinese USB stick with the branding of a company that otherwise isn't invested in electronics).

Sorry, I not get any email about both replies above.

My first stick was a 32gb but Ubs3.

I then found an old 4gb Usb2 and will continue with that.

I was not able to clear the codes,

I will try the other hidden menu tomorrow.

Thank you both.

OK, got into the Diagnostic menu,

DA shows NG

Nav Box OK

I pressed the INIT button several times, it disables then enables, but DA remains at NG ? 😒

It is going in for a service next Thursday, should I mention this to Toyota?

TIA

Yes, tell the dealer, you have sat nav ??? That's why you can not update the firmware as the USB will be plugged into the NAV module

does the sat nav work ?? I guess not - that is the likely cause, otherwise it will show a map version and not a software version - That explains the communication codes - it may be worth removing the radio un plug it and plug it all back in

NG - Not good

TBH Act dumb and say the nav isn't working

Sat Nav works, though the maps are 2016. I have my own Garmin Nuvi, so have used that as I have lifetime map updates for that.😀
Sorry I did not mention that initially. The unit plays mp3 files from the USB stick without an issue. That is even a 128GB USB 3 stick as well.
