Tick over and battery estima 2006

So got a new Battery and fitted it to my Estima aerus 2006.The guy said it was the one reccomended by the Battery manufacturers. However the rev counter now ticks over at .5 revs and seems that the car is going to stall any second (it is automatic) Also when giving way, in drive on a hill the car now rolls backwards this has happened since i put the new Battery on. is this connected in any way or have i done something wrong
